12w6 ported vs sealed

I have my 12w6v2 in the JL recommend 1.2 ft^3 sealed box and it works pretty well to be in such a small box. Decent punch and output. Sharp SQ.

But I need more output and am considering changing to the JL recommended 1.5 ft^3 ported box tuned to 32 Hz. Has anyone made this exact transition or the reverse of it? Were you happy with the change? Can you describe the differences? Was it noticeably louder? Did SQ suffer much?

I had followed my 12w6v2 in the recommended ported box size and it was loud, but as even my dad said, the bass wasnt as tight as it should be. Recently last week i put my friends 12w6v2 into my car that was a sealed box only a bit bigger than JL audio's sealed specs, and the bass was much tighter. Output was lower but barely to my ears.
