but to answer your question 4 gauge is good up to 1400 rms on average so you should be fine. but i would get the 0 gauge asap.

That depends on how long your runs are.. You're not going to see 1400W on a 20' run of 4awg.

Im running 1200 RMS with 1/0 power and ground, and a 1/0 alternator to batt wire, and still get bad dimming.

You'll be fine with 4 ga. in terms of safety. If you have good quality 4 ga. like KnuKonceptz Kolossus then you'll definitely have no problems.
i had 1/0 split to 4g on my sae1000d. no dimming. also had the big 3 in 4g.
