12 vs. 15 L7

How much louder to the ear would you think that 2 15" L7s would get than 2 12" L7s. If I were to get the 12s I'd run them off my 1501d, and the 15s off an orion 2500d and upgrade my electrical system eventually. I really like the 35-50hz range and I know 12s can slam in that range pretty well, would 15s peak off to much in terms of maintaining some higher range bass and nailing the lows? I've never heard the 15" L7s, just 2 12" L7s off 1000 watts, and that got really f-ing loud because this dude's box was tuned to 45hz. I'm an SQL guy, and I don't want 15s to give me no SQ, with the 12s I'd put them in a nolteaudio.com box (doubleshot) which would get me the SQL I want. The doubleshots dont' work with 15s unfortunately.

hmm one of my friend has a 400watt kicker system, it doesnt sound like much but it really kicks when your inside the car i dont think people realize how much power it is when your subs are hitting that many watts/rmps

i just think people look at the small #'s like their garbage but to me thats where the sq comes in

i was at a speaker store the other day i saw a sub that hold 2.5k watts (1sub) for like 60 bucks brand new, now come on i was shocked how much watt that mofo holds but then again i knew there would be 0% sq

That could have been its peak (which is basicly pointless). I no even with jbl there GTI (i believe thats what they are called) are 3000 peak, but only like 500 rms. Alot of people look at the "peak" power, when they should look at rms.

I think the 15's would be noticeably louder, just due to more cone area and more power.

Would 6 cubes be too small for 2 15s? I'm thinking so, but I really want one of those 3000 watt powerbass amps to throw on 2 15" L7s and feed around 1200 to each sub.

huh...?

u lost me on the 2nd part and the 3rd

so if you use that theory, say a sony p5 with 350rms or whatever will sound better than an XXX with 2000?

its also how people think of how loud is loud really is

When you take a good sub vs a shity one then yes the 2k sub would be better.. But there are alot of subs out there that costs like 50 bucks for a 2kw sub, and that for sure wont sound like what you think it would, the quailty

Like i mentioned to you earlier, the l7 15s like anywhere from 4-5 cubes per sub... If you only have 6 cubes total to sacrifice for 2 15s, then just go with the 12s.

The l7 15's have a very unique sound. It's not the cleanest, but you know it's a kicker as soon as you get in the car.

Come to think of it, i think it's a distinct sound cause they just generalize notes into blurry BUUUURPS, but if you listen to a lot of rap, primarily, and are just trying to have the beat loud as hell, nothing touches a 15" l7.

Now that i think of it, i really miss mine. Might have to have a 2nd setup with a 15" l7 to swap with my type-x's for weekends and such.... I can see it now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
