12'' SSA Icon or 12'' FI Q

Alright I do not know tooo much about higher end subwoofers. My previous setups was a 10'' Rockford P2 (crap) and 2 10'' infinity reference series woofers (still kinda crappy)

I have a new truck (S-10 extended cab) and want to build a nice system. Im going for a sound quality based system that has the potential to pound if I feel like it.

I plan on components, sound deadening, current Pioneer DEH-P690UB HU and amps that will match comps and sub.

If my understanding is correct SSA is part of a company that owns FI? I could be wrong. My question is which subwoofer is better for SQ the 12'' icon or 12'' FI Q?

I will probably build a sealed box but may go ported.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't think you could go wrong either way. They are very similar subs and both very nice ones IMO. It is going to come down to which you like best, as you aren't going to hear a 1 or 2 db difference, and their SQ will also be very comparable.

Agreed. Both are very nice sounding subs and are quite comparable.

Personally heres the thing. If you going with a sealed box I would recommend the Q, ported I would say the Icon.

They each work wonderfully either sealed or ported, but have their strengths and weakness in each box. Really cant go wrong with either. Nice choices.

SSA and Fi are completely separate entitys.

I love the icons and personally think they sound much better than the q's....

I am installing a pair of icon 10s in my fit soon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well said. But I am biased. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
