12" SX in a 99 Civic

Hey all, I will be putting a 12" RE SX in my wife's 99 Civic and will be running 1200-1500 watts to it. The RE site says 2 cu ft tuned to 33 hz is optimal, but she is willing to give up her whole trunk if a bigger box will help. I think I'll tune around 32-34, but was wondering if I should make the box around 3-3.5 cu ft. Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

dont go any larger than 2.5 cu.ft., if you do you will cut the speaker's power handling. be sure to brace the box very well, that sub isn't light

I have tried searching, but almost everything I found was people asking for box designs and not necessarily what the optimal airspace for an SX is. UPS sucks so it won't be here till tomorrow, so feel free to give your opinion.
