12" Round Solobaric

Hey there,

Well I found a 12" Round solobaric built into a box that fits right into my truck for $100. I was wondering if these are good subs at all, I here that the old round ones are really good subs. Would you recommend one over say an IDQ? Or what sub would you compare it too? I will be running DLS UP6s for comps and everything will be running of an Xtant 403A. Also the guy doesn't know what the voicecoil setup is, so does it say it somewhere on the sub? It will be running off of 2ohm out of my Xtant, so if its single voice coil, it will also have to be 2 ohm right? Instead of dual which it would have to be Dual 4. Anyways, thanks for all the help.

1) Yes the Solobaric is a very good sub. But not better than the IDQ IMO.

2) The ohms on the subwoofer determines what ohms the amp is running at. If you have a 4ohm it's running on a 4ohm load and so on. If the ohms is higher than 2 it will make less power but it will still run it with no problems.

3) The ohms should be on a sticker on the back of the subwoofer. If not you can get a general idea with a DMM. (Obviously if there is more than one set of speaker terminals you'll know it's a DVC)

Round solos only came in single voice coil configuration with either a 2, 4, 8 ohm impedance. I have attached a link to the data sheet provided by Kicker for the "D" series solobarics. A 12 can handle up to 600 watts. I have had a pair for 6 years now and love them. I have not heard many others to offer a comparison. I actually just purchased another one essentially new(it was purchased a while ago and never hooked up) so I can just run a single 12 rather than the pair I have.

while I havent used the solobaric D, i have extensive listening time on them. **** good sounding subs. Now quite as good as say an IDQ, but def has more output!

the last version of the solo's (d series) were 600 rms in a .66 box and 425 rms in a .88 box

Get some nice excursion for 8's. Potent lil buggers, but obviously nowhere near as loud as your rl-p.

The 1 sealed blended pretty nice. 2 would definetly have some output

I had to crank the gain since they are SVC 8ohmers
