12" Massive DMX or 12" SI mags need your advice

well, according to everyone that has ever commented on my posts about the dmx, it is a driver that can get hella loud but needs good power to push it. according to massive audio, it states that you need 1500 w rms for music and that 3k plus is for burps, snoopdan has extensivly tested this driver hit 150 db for a single 12 i believe. it has a removable gasket so you can recone without glue, which is a great option. guys like to push around 3k plus. I think for the price it is a great spl driver.

as for the si mag, i hear they get loud as well, but have great sq....

personally i would have to go and put my money on the dmx, seeing as that is the woofer I chose and ordered from Hifiosund connection,,, just my 2 cents...

Sheer output and wow factor, isnt there with the mag, imo, dmx can wow the crowd and please your soul that desires musical madness with a sweet ensemble of melody...

I loved my 12" dmx and I really love my 15" dmx.

A 12" in a 3 cubed tuned 35 hz with 2000 watts on it,is really hard to beat.

Never heard a mag but from what Ive read it likes the low lows more but I would be willin to bet that the dmx smokes the midrange bass by a good amount.

Output isn't there? Where is Loyd?! He's in the mid 150s with two Mag 12s I believe.

Burping a pair of Mags on a pair of SAZ-1500Ds in my brothers truck last night... still tweaking but it's up to 148 dB on my TermLab in his first ever SPL box in an extended cab truck -- nSPL no-wall 0-24 class. Ground point is still a bottleneck, single run of 1/0 power, etc, etc... again, first ever SPL rig for my brother.

He needs to re-build the box to stay legal, though, as it is about 2" above the window line... we flipped it up on end from it's legal position and gained 1.2 dB from the score at his last show.

So... while the Mag is an SQ driver first and foremost... to say that sheer output isn't there is a mistake.
