12" - Fi Q Vs. Kicker L7

Amp: Sundown 1000D = 1000 watts @ 1 ohm

Box: Sealed enclosure, just under 1 ft^3 (.985 ft^3)

Which one of these speakers hits the hardest? Im looking for tight, punchy kick drum bass. Right now I have an ARC12 which sounds good and plays low, but im looking for a tighter kick to the bass.

Any other suggestions for woofers that hit hard?

Not according to the manufacturers. Both subs are rated for sealed enclosures from around .8 ft^3

ANy reason for that or are you just not a kicker fan?

You want it to hit hard, and get low? Then you want a ported enclosure.

An l7 is going to get loud, but they dont sound very good, and defintley not in a sealed enclosure. If it must be sealed the Q.

the L7 would sound better ported and needs more room. i would go with the Q just due to the fact its a lot cleaner sounding sub.

Keeping the box small is preferable since it will be sitting on the rear seats of my truck ('02 Tacoma extra cab) In fact the box can really only be about 10" or so deep. I was planning on building a new box for this sub which is 17.5"w x 14"H x 10"d...

However...

I could go with a ported 10" instead of the sealed 12"....

Or I could use the box that my ARC12 is in which is 1.29ft^3

I just want thighter kick to the bass than I have now with the ARC.
