12" edA on a JL 500/1

if I put on ed A in a 1 cubic foot box would the jl 500/1 be enough on the sub to get it to its spl potential (when needed) just looking for someone that has seen this done because the type r that is in there now just isn't getting the job done anymore.

IMO that would be ok, but far from reaching the full potential of what that driver is capable of. I think in a review that I read over on eD's website, read them over and stuff and you will see what ppl are throwing at these drivers.

Go with the jl 1000/1 amp instead.

To be honest i have my 12a w/ an avionixx giving about 900 watts and its not loud enough. Sure the 6-700 watts from the 500/1 will get it moving, but won't be close to full SPL potential. If you already have the 500/1, go ported.

I want to keep it in a sealed box I also plan on upgrading the amp to either avionixx 1200.1 (with possible second sub) or a pg tantrum but that will be down the road, any other amp ideas for this sub under $500, thanks for the input

That's a good idea since the A should be going pretty close to full potential with 1000 watts, and more than likely, the JL amps are gonna be underrated, so it will be getting more than 1K watts. Just be careful not to push it too far...
