12 JL 12w6 vs MTX 8500?

Right now I'm in a situation where I'm deciding if I should swap my pair of 12w6 in a 3.5 cu box tuned to around 36 hz for a pair of 12" mtx8500 in the sledge hammer box they come in. I know that the mtx8500 can take more power even thought they are rated less than the w6. They also have an xmas of 22 vs the w6 0f 16 xmas. The mtx 8500 are also more sensitive by more than 3 db. Will the mtx 8500 still hit lows as well as the w6s becuase I love lows. Which subs are going to be louder and how much louder? Its it worth it? any suggestions would be great.

The 8500's are loud subs, but in no way will they sound better than the W6's. If you're just looking to have a loud setup, let us know what kind of budget you're working with, and how much power you have available(and at what ohm load).

I have a fosgate T1000bdcp that is rated 1595 rms at 1 ohm and 1525 rms at 2 ohms. I want a louder bass with still a decent sq that still have good lows. I bought my 2 12w6 in the box for $350 used. The mtx 8500s are selling for the same price used. So I can work around $400

The ssa xcon 15 does seem the be an asome subwoofer. My concern is will it really outperform the 2 12w6? and by how much? I only have enough space in my car to build a 4 cu ft box

Not positive but i think jl's are rated 1w/1m where mtx's are rated 2.83v/1m. that can usually yeild about 3db difference in numbers but is actually the same sensitivity. I may be wrong though about the way the 2 companies rate them so double check for yourself.

I want to get a ssa xcon 18". I actually might be able to squeeze in a 5 cu ft box into my trunck. The 18" sub sell for $399 plus shipping but there's another option where the sub costs 279 plus shipping and I need to wait 1 week for build time. Should I go with the lower cost deal instead to save money? Is there a flaw I don't know about? Will the 18 still be decent in a 5 cu box? any help would be great

you're better off getting the 15 and porting it cause 5 cubes is too small to port the 18
