12 Disc Skipping Problems and Rattling Issues

I have run into a slight problem with my recent install. I installed my 12Disc in my center console. From the front of the truck to the back it fits very snug. From side to side there is about a 1 inch gap on the one side and about a 3inch gap on the other side. When I go around hard turns, or if the music is up, the thing skips like a sob. Even if I lay my arm down too hard on the center console it does it.

Would it be safe to place a layer of sound dampening mat around the drive and then stuff the console with v4(teklite)? Would I have to worry about it overheating, or should it be fine?

One last thing. I comletely sound dampened my entire truck, yet there is still a slight hint of rattling on the outside. I've narrowed it down to the back of the cab. I've only placed one layer of mat back there, should I tear everything out again and lay a second or third layer? I'm thinking the obvious answer is yes, but I just wanted to make sure before I go through the hassle of removing my back seat again to gain access to the back of the cab. The bolts are a PITA to get out due to the very cramped and limited space I have to work with.

What kind of changer is it (brand) and how is it mounted in your console? Is it standing up (as in when you pop the top on your console the cartridge would eject right into your hand or what?)

If it is mounted vertically - is the changer capable of operating while mounted that way? Is there a switch on it for various mounting angles (like Kenwood changers have a switch for 0, 45, or 90 degree mounting...)

I have a Pioneer CDX-P1280 and it does have an adjustment for playing it in different mounting positions. Currently when you open up the console the front of the drive is facing straight up. Do I have to turn the switch to a 90 degree mount? That would be awesome if it was that simple of a fix.

If it is like the Kenwood changers you'd have it set for 0 degrees if it was mounted flat like a book and 90 degrees for mounting like you've described.

If that isn't where you have it set I would suggest it really might be that easy of a fix //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

(Won't that be nice if that's all it is?!?)
