Im making a box for 2 10w6v2s. JL recommends .75 each for a total of 1.5 cu ft ported tuned to 37.89.

The box seems kinda small and tuned kinda high. My question is, what would be a better size and/or tuning for these? Mainly wanting SQ but still want to be able to get somewhat loud.

i would go atleast one cube each tuned to 33 or 32 but i cant be sure....

i'd go with 1.25 tuned anywhere from 30-35

Those have a relatively high QTS and i think a modest BL, .75 would be way to small i think. and if you're looking for sound quality I would think 37-38 would be way too boomy... those recomendations sound like what a prefab box from best buy would be lol.

I have done .75cuft for sealed for the v2's and have had excellent luck with 1cuft and tuning form 35hz and down.

Imo you should go sealed. Being one of the best sq subs ever made they belong in a sealed box. I love ported but not for those subs

Not really. It is a common recommendation by many installers to run the w6v2 sealed and the w7 ported.

Very true. If output is not a consern, they sound VERY good sealed. IMO, if you are looking for just SQ, seald will be the way to go.

Now with that, they can sound excellent ported as well, you just need to have the right box and tuning.

Do w7's get quite a bit louder then w6v2's ported? Ive heard W7's are NOT so great sealed.. ive also heard w6v2's sound better? Is that true.

Ported can sound just as good as sealed if done right. Actually sometimes better, you can get a flatter response curve from a lower frequency.

Thanks for the help guys. Ill probably end up going ~1 tuned to probably 34ish. Im gonna see how it works out in winisd.

In my experience, the W7 does get louder sealed. The W6s definitely are geared more towards SQ.

Ported can sound just as good as sealed if done right. Actually sometimes better, you can get a flatter response curve from a lower frequency.

In-car it can often become harder to achieve flat with a ported enclosure due to cabin gain. The already exaggerated low end gets another extra boost. Takes a decent amount of planning.

Ok so, I drew this up pretty quick.

Its 2.68 cuft after all displacements tuned to 34.

The subs see 2 cuft.

What do you guys think?

Port is 2.5 x 11 x 26.48 (X x Y x Z) Vent Mach in winisd - .07

Anything I should take a look at?
