Right now I have a 10w3 in a sealed box, and it adds some low end, but I want it just a little bit louder. I know it's an SQ sub, but do you think it would be a good idea to sacrifice a little sq for some more output, and build a ported box for it?

Why not just build a ported box for the one you have now? The JL Audio spec box in the owner's manual should do it for you.

I have two 10w3v2s each in their own .75 cubic foot sealed enclosure and I am getting ready to sell them because I don't like their lack of low frequency response. Tonight, I installed a DD1010 that I purchased used along with a DD blueprint built box tuned to 40 hz and that single ported 10 outdoes the two 10w3v2s! I know DD is SPL, but it gives me the low notes at the volume I like versus the tight (i.e. LACK OF) bass that the JL Audios provide.
