I have two jl10w1v2-4 subs in a ported pox. The box is ~1 cu Ft. I'm not sure what it's tuned to but, I do not like the sound it puts out. It doesn’t seem to have a very smooth frequency range. I listen to a broad range of music: rock, metal, country, acoustic, piano.

My current box really fails to deliver on the low end. For ex: on certain metal songs (in drop tuning)* the box cannot keep up (or down?) with the low notes of the bass guitar. When these low notes get played, all I hear is the kick drum. The bass guitar disappears.

So, I'm tempted to go with a sealed box for its all-around performance, simplicity, and tight/accurate sound. I have read in places that JL often "undersizes" their box requirements (.625 cu for the 10w1). If going sealed, what should I shoot for? .8cu? polyfill? 1.0cu?
