i plan on getting kicker cvx subs, not sure if i should get 1 10, 1 12, 2 10's, or 2 12's. i listern to eveything from rap to hardcore. i also plan on running it on a kicker zx750.1 amp, should i run the sub(s) at 2 or 4 ohm's? im very new to this so im not sure which to do. also, i read somewhere that to run at 2 ohms you will need some combination of voice coils either wired in series or parallel to give you that resistnace. wtf does that mean.

First off.. I'd stick with 10's.. particularly if you listen to a wide range of music.. since the amp doesn't have the greatest dampening (control of sub), it will be easier on the amp to control a 10" vs a 12".. and in my honest opinion, 12 subs sometimes isn't enough for some people.. the truth is: YOU WILL ALWAYS WANT MORE BASS NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU ALREADY HAVE. Its like a drug, but a good one, so I would run 2 to begin with.

If you are running 2 subs, they should be dual 2ohm to get a 2ohm load on your mono amp.

The dual 2ohm will be harder to wire up in a series parallel configuration.. the dual 8ohm subs will need to be run straight parallel.

If you are running 2 subs, they can be either dual 4ohm or dual 2ohm and you will still be able to get a 2ohm load on your mono amp.

The dual 2ohm will be easier to wire up in a basic + to + and - to - voicecoil configuration.. the dual 4ohm subs will need to be run sieries parallel.

you cannot run 2 dual 4's at 2 ohms nominal on a monoblock.

Get the 2 12's, dual 2. Since you listen to rap, you'd be better off with the cone area.

if i get the 12's the will be deep which will be good for rap, but then say i listen to hardcore, am i going to get the chest pounding bass, or deep raplike bass.

The larger the cone size doesn't mean it can only play low. That's a common myth. Plenty of 15's and 18's have tremendous upper-frequency extention.

If you're getting 2 DVC subs, then the 2 ohm versions will be your best bet.

Wire them like this:
