10in kicker sub slight distorting

Got a 10 inch kicker sub in a ported box with a kenwood x500-1 amp. I'm not an audio guru but I got this setup for free. Hooked it up last night and it sounded fine had it up around decently loud for about 20-30 sec. This morning I turned it on and noticed a faint distort at low and high volume(same sound the whole way through) don't remember hearing it yesterday but who knows. Is my sub blown or is this a separate issue?
