1000w Infinity Ref. 8" subwoofer help

I just got this sub from someone that never got to use it. It was still in the box and you could tell it was not used. I had it in my car with a 800w Kenwood amp. It worked fine for a long time, until a whole lot of rain left my amp, which was under the seat, submerged in water. Now I have the amp relocated to the trunk, and a new Kenwood 600w mono block amp. It worked for a week and started randomly going off and on. Now the sub will not work unless the music is truned up a good amount, and not until you push the subwoofer in. After it starts hitting it keeps working until you turn the music down. Maybe the magnet dose not have good contact? Any way to fix it? I have no idea about the internals of subs. Thanks in advance guys.

check the ohm ratings on the speaker wire hook ups on the sub.

you need a digital multi meter. can be had for 25$ or so. use the setting that looks like a weird pair of headphones to read ohms.

report back with your findings.
