1000 watts... what subs...

I would think I can find something to suite my needs/wants better then the shiva for the price. If it was my guess, that is its down fall now. I remember when they came out and everyone was all about them until a few other companies put out similar subs for less.

They promote the inductance and XBL^2 motor pretty hard. And it looks nice. But yes, if I was to stray away from my current plans, I'd be running 2 12 IDQ's or something similar in a "hatch baffle". //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

ok ok you got me on the in depth mathematics. But in ur opinion you are willing to say that 3 sa 8's in a proper box can’t hang with 2 sa 12" in its proper box. Both only able to be feed 1000 total??

I think it would be similar but my money is on the sa12s or skar 12s for over all volume

So what your saying is that if the shiva was priced right at $200 the same as the sa. The sa would still be the better buy??

Three 8" = 150.8

Two 12" = 226.19

Am I missing something here? The 2 12's have more cone area yea??

Also, I am planning on building the box outside of the budget. The $400 is for subwoofers only. Tax/shipping can be worked with.

So if the SA 12's were the ticket.... I see them online for $190 each with free shipping. So that is $380. If it went a little higher that the $400 that is ok.

I also do not mind being run of the mill and getting what other people have. This is mainly for myself only. No car shows or anything.

Maybe show it to a few friends or something. I just want to be smart with my money and do it right the first time.

I was going to get 2 SA 12's originally, but decided to redo all of my wiring. Dumped $300 on new 1/0, rca's, fuse holders, speaker wire etc etc etc.

So my wiring is good. Now its onto the subs. Figure sell my JL's on craigslist for $150 or so (that is what I see them for now), and pickup different subs.

The only real reason I want new subs anyway is because these are DVC 2 ohm...I need to get a 1 ohm load and cannot do that with these.

So I am throwing away wattage from my amp.

I understand ur point for sure but think about the price of 2 sa-12's $400 you could get 4 sa-8's for $400. Still got ur money on those 12's?

The SA12 is a great choice and you could beat on them all day with out much any issues.

I admit...I have never heard 8's before. Hell....I do not remember what 10's are even like.

If 3 or 4 8's get loud....ok. But do they "feel" like 12's? The back massage was nice, lol.

Oh, and I do appreciate the suggestions. It is all helpfull. At the end of all of this I hope to have a set of subs to purchase and know what box I am going to build.

PM dave louisianacrx he had 4 DD 1508's or 1008's doing mid to high 140's... Think you could feel that? The 1508's are rated the same as the sa-8's so you cant say well the DD cost more and such cause alot of the high price has to do with there name and not always the product.

Hell even better PM Jacob from sundown and ask him what 4 sa-8's are capable of doing. Even ask the question if 2 12's would be a better option then 4 8's I would love to know his answer.

As for subs, 8s are crazy these days. If you want to do something not "normal" and impress people with a "wow" factor run 4 of them.

In 3.5 cubes, I'm thinking 2 12's that are okay with smaller enclosures, a single 15, 3 10's, 3-4 8's are all in the realm of possibility.

***Edit: 2 Skar or SA 12's, single Fi BL, 3 10" Dcons, or 4 SA-8's come to mind.
