10" W6v2 or 10" RE SX?

I'm an aspiring car audio enthusiast who is in need of some help. I have a 10" W6 in a 0.625 cubic foot sealed box being pushed by a Directed Audio D800 amp that's feeding the sub 200 x 1 at 4 ohms. My problem is that the W6 gives me the sound quality I'm looking for but not the loudness. Some say that it's the box, because it's not ported. This in part for the loudness is true as well as the amp. But why spend money on a better amp if the sub itself won't get the job done. Is this the case with my W6? Should I just go with a 10" RE SX or is there some things that can be done to improve what I have? Like get a ported box and a better amp or would purchasing the RE solve my problems? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif Help ASAP. Thanks.

is it the W6v2 or v1? if it's the V2 it should be a dual 4 sub which means you're wiring your sub to either a 2 ohm load or an 8 ohm load. but the amp is definatly not seeing 4 ohms unless the W6 is a single voice coil sub. But the enclosure makes a big difference. Try getting a ported box that's like 1.4 cubic feet tuned to 34 hz and then decide if you need a new amp/sub.

Another quick question just to make sure... to wire my sub into a 2ohm load I would wire it + and +, - and - right? Off the amp that I have right now for the time being, the best way to wire it would be in a parallel and not a series, correct? Learning a lot, thanks for the help. Appreciate it.

I would also recommend to see how you have your coils run on the driver, if you currently connected to a 8 ohm load (series) you will increase you power output considerably by running the sub in at a 2 ohm load (parallel).

There are a lot of reasons why you may not have the output you desire. Your gain adjustment could be set incorrectly, as well as you low pass filter, etc..

If you have already gone thru all the basics the next set is to get a correctly designed ported enclosure for you sub and see what happens.
