10" vs 8"

I am looking to change up my subs again and am wondering what to go for. I have a pair of Kicker S10L5-2's in sealed 1cu.ft boxes and am wondering if a pair of S8L7's would give me more noticeable output. I had the 10's in large(2.24cu.ft ported) boxes which left little room for much else and this is why I am looking to change. I know the max ported box for the 8" is 1cu.ft which would fit pretty close to what I've got now. Both the 10" and 8" mentioned are rated at 450watts RMS.

Honestly 2 10's sealed and 2 8's ported would probably be about equal to each other. You would probably not notice a difference as far as loudness. You could tune the 8's higher around 40hz and that may give you somewhat a gain on the higher notes...

No, the 8s will definitely be louder. Solobarics love being ported, and since the L7 is quite a bit more potent than the L5 is anyway, I'd put all my money on the L7s being noticably louder.

Meh. I remember a debate a while ago where some people were saying the L5 is as good, if not better than the L7.

Never owned either. So I can't say either way.

As for OP... flip a coin.

if both boxes are ported im sure the 10s will be louder, more cone area.
