10" revo ported design

Hey I traded for a Audio Pluse 10" revo. I want to make a ported box for it. Itried it out in a ported box I had lying around. 1.5 ft^3 gross 1 4" port tuned to 38 hz. The port noise was ridiculous! Can this sub be ported with a reasonable port diameter, or do I have to do a passive radiator setup?

how much port area would you say i need? 30^2?

1.5 cubic foot box = 18-24 inches^2

Yea, aim for around 24 sq inches of port area (slot port) and you shouldnt have a problem..and roundover all the corners involved with the port

Ok im going to make a new box and use 24^2 port. I was trying to get away with just a 4" port, The box I have now wont cut it.

Ok. I had 1.7@36 with a pair of 3'' aeros and there wasn't port noise at all. I'm in the middle of building a 1.3 (tuning isn't decided yet) with a single 4'' aero....I'm really hoping there isn't any port noise.

That's exactly why I'm downsizing to a single 4'' aero for my new box.

I wonder if I get a REAL aeroport if ill have noise still? Also Im using the thin white pipe not the thick black stuff. Flare isnt big enough maybe?

Yeah, maybe the flare is too small. I just finished building my box today. I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled out tomorrow so I won't get the box in my truck until wednesday probably. I can let you know on wednesday if I'm hearing any port noise with only a single 4'' aero if you want me to.

yeah sure. I really dont want to build another box right now. Ill need more wood and the time is the biggest problem. Ive never used aero's b4. How big is the outside of a real 4" aero?
