10" Kicker L7 Box Design - Thoughts?

Hey guys, I'm going to attempt to build a box for my 02S10L7 sub this evening. But before I start building, I'd like you guys to look over my plans and let me know what you think.

The sub is going in a 2004 Dodge Neon. The maximum width of the trunk is 33". The maximum height is 15". I would like to reach the correct box volume while minimizing how far the box goes toward the trunk lid.

After doing some searching on the forums and kicker's website. I've discovered I'm going to need roughly 2.25 ft3 for the box.

I've been playing with the RE Enclosure Calculator trying to get the best box going with a cut sheet in place.

Here is where I am unclear though. According to the L7 owner's manual, the port needs to be 18" long.

This is what I've gotten thus far:

Box width: 33

Box height: 15

Box top depth: 12

Box bottom depth: 12

Wood Thickness: 0.75

Square Port height: 13.5

Square Port width: 1.50

Square Port Length 1: 9.75

Square Port Length 2: 5.25

Total Port length: 18

Square Port diameter: 5.077

Square Port area: 20.25

Port Internal volume: 364.5

Port volume displaced: 375.18

Box volume: 2.367

Tuning Freq: 32.57

My box volume is dead on I think (well within range after driver).

Only thing has got me worried is the port volume,area,length etc.

Let me know what you guys think.

What does everyone think about this? I'm going to start building in a couple hours so I was wondering if I was badly off or it looks like a pretty good lay out.

I would add alil more port area but besides that you should be fine.

Done.

I took your advice and increased port area to about 27-28 on my build.

Built the box last night and installed this morning. Slams just as it should. This by far met my expectations.
