10'' MTX Blue Thunder HELP!

I recently came across 3 10" MTX Blue Thunders. They are in a sealed box, problem is that I feel that I am not getting the most out of them, but I don't know anything about the speakers. From what I have read they are 12 ohms, and when wired together they are 4 ohm. About this, they are just all wired to one terminal from the negative and positive of each ones, is this right? Secondly they are supposed to be 75 - 250 RMS and 400 Peak, I have a 1600 Interfire Monoblock pushing them, I don't have the amp tuned up all the way because I am fearing pushing the subs too much due to not knowing their background. I do have a box that is vented for 2 10"s and I was wondering if maybe i should just push 2 in the vented box, or what I should do. Thank you!

leave tem in the stock box mtx had decent enclosers back in the 90s. the subs are 200rms per so you will be fine driving 600-700rms to them

When you run speakers, and there is only one speaker terminal on the box, how do you run them? Cause right now all of the negs are going to the neg on the terminal, and all of the pos are going to the pos, but I don't know how this differs from actually running from sub to sub instead. Thank you.

It doesn't if you are running them all in parallel, which is how it is wired right now. if you wanted to series them (nobody in their right mind would because I assume they are all 6 or 8ohm woofers), you would have to go from sub to sub.

Yes they are 8ohm, I was just trying to get the most out of them that i can without blowing them. I guess I didn't think it through when I just started buying mismatch equipment lol

you can go sub to sub and get a parallel configuration, the final load is just the end result of how you ran the +'s and -'s with respect to the ohm load of each sub involved.

If I understand correctly they are single 8ohm each right? That would give them a final load of 2.66ohm's all together. The amp say's 850rms @ 2ohm but would prob be closer to 600rms at a final load around 3ohm's, which would mean you're powering them safely/correctly.

Your right that is the one, but maybe you can tell me how is it at 2ohms.. RMS is 850, but peak is 800? I understand its not true due to offbrand, but I have not really heard bad things about interfire.

I'm assuming it does under rated power cause as you said, it's a off brand. And I'm being generous saying that it'll put out 600rms @ 2.66 ohm, which after box/impedence rise would be closer to 3 ohm's. It'll def give them over 500rms to split, a little over 150rms each which is fine.

I've never ran those amp's so I can't really say how they are @ 2ohm.

It just sounds like they aren't hitting like they should or something, I don't know it just sounds wierd to me, and with me being new it kinda worried me is all.

Now is when you have to start messing with the setting on the headunit and perhaps the amp's not setup correctly. Frequency should be around 80hz, gain no more then half way and little to no bass boost.

I was always under the impression that you could set the boost up until it clips, so I take it that is a nono? And where do I find out what to set the frequency around? I appreciate the help.

set lpf to 80-100. Boost off or tuned all the way down. Set gains with DMM if all of that is done and you are still not happy then new box.

Okay, research it is... boy its a lot easier to pay someone, but then when they start getting more and more slack I want to learn and find out that paying him $5 each time might have been why he stopped lol.. thanks for the help guys, gonna have to start from square one.
