No the Avalanche was louder than the Tumult with only 600w when the Tumult was running around 1500w, and the Tumult is very similar to the XXX in efficiency and sound. And there are a few things that were pointed out to me by friends about the advantages in upper frequency response with the avalanche over the XXX and is just as accurate, most people's main complaint with the XXX is no upper bass 60-80hz. As i said i trust these guy's ears more than mine. and so far every single person has preferred the avalanche over the XXX and Brahma for some reason or another.

60-80hz? You need to learn what "subbass" is. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Subwoofers should never play above 80hz anyway, even that is too high for my taste. No, xxx's dont play well above 80hz. If you are running 4x6's for your front stage, I suggest you order more appropriate subs. But those of us with real midbass setup's could care less what a sub's performance is above 80hz, might at well be 20khz.
As for the xxx comparison, until you compare a xxx to an Ava, I suggest you not make blanket statements like "it gets just as loud off of 1/2 the power and has even better low end". If 'your friends' compared an Ava to a Tumult, why do you think its appropriate to make such a statement about a xxx? Because it has a 'similar' efficiency rating to a Tumult? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
The Ava has better low end than a xxx? Have you heard a xxx? Oh that's right, you haven't. Has your friend heard a xxx? Nope. Yet you make statements about its bottom end. Again, this proves you have no problem speaking about something you know nothing about.
As for which is louder, that is such a tired arguement. Are we even comparing similar installs? Oops, you are comparing specs in your head based off a third party friend's test of what you consider a similar sub. That's so scientific I can't imagine how'd I'd ever question that! rofl
In conclusion, you take third hand information (from a friend) about a test between an Ava and a Tumult, check a couple specs, come to your own conclusion then come here and say about a xxx: "it gets just as loud off of 1/2 the power and has even better low end", without you (or even your friend) having heard a xxx. If you don't see all the breaks in that chain of logic, there's something wrong with you.
