1 simple port question.

Is it parallel to the hatch or angled to the hatch? If parallel, you may have some tuning probs, because of it trying to blow back in on itself.
7" being the height and 35" being the width on the bottom of the box facing the rear hatch of a 2001 tahoe.

Hard to say what will happen. It will affect you, especially being at the bottom, and that close, because essentially you have made that space like an extension of your port to the top of your box. You may get a lower tuning out of it. Hard to say.

Rule of thumb is you need the distance between the port exit and a solid object to be at least equal to or greater than the smallest dimension of the port. In your case, it's 7". If you put it exactly 7" away from the tailgate, it's almost like an addition to the port length. This is a loading-wall effect. Should gain a bit of low end as compared to the box being much further away. But to answer your question in a more simple manner... Yes, 7" is enough
