just got two Dual 4 ohm IDq12 v3's and need an amp to do 1000-1200 at 1 or 4 ohms. which of these would be the best for SQ. ive read running at 4 ohm through a A/b amp may provide a touch better SQ. but heres a short list of amps im interested in budget is around $350

How about a Diamond D6 1000.1? Rated for 1000 watts at 1 ohm but will do between 1100 and 1200. A great performing amp, stays cool, and a small footprint. $200 plus shipping.

think im leaning toward the 1000/1 for a damping factor of 500 @ 4ohms or the zrs3002 for 1200watts and >200 damping factor at 4ohms. how does the 1000/1 put out at 4ohms i know its still rated at 1000w

I am using an older PPI amp on the same subs, my buddy is using an Arc Audio KS1000 on his IDQV3's and they very nice.

For around that budget the SS PCX1000d would be a sugg.

There were some MB quart amps floating around DSC1000.1 / or PAB1200.1d for cheap

In general, 1000 watts at 4 ohm will be more stable than 1000 watts at 1 ohm.

On subs, it really doesn't matter, only reason I'm running 8ohms is because that's what the amp likes when bridged. For such a limited frequency range the speakers will play, I wouldn't loose sleep over one or the other.

However, an upside to running that kind of power @ 4ohms compared to 1ohm, is that you will have less strain on your electrical system, everything else being equal. Down side, is that usually an amp that puts out that amount of power at a higher impedance, usually cost a bit more too.

OTOH, I managed to pick up my 25 to Life Punch 150 for $150 and it produces right at 1,000 watts RMS into 4 ohms. The downside is being Class AB it sucks just as much current, if not MORE, at 4 ohms than my Crossfire BMF-1000d did @ 1 ohm. Then again, I found the Punch 150 to be faster and more accurate than the Crossfire when I was running a pair of 10s.
