1.5 (DIN and a half) HELP

Hey folks, I really need some help. I drive a 2001 Extended cab truck and it has a slot for a 1.5 DIN system. I know Pioneer currently has two new models, one being the DEH-P47DH and the DEH-P77DH. Other than these, are there any older 1.5 DIN models out there that just rocked? If so, help me to gather the components for a nice-sounding system. Not anything for competition but non-distorted, non-BOOMBOOM but just nice, clear sound that I could enjoy and be proud to share. I have been out of stereos since the early 80's so I really need some help.

If the 1.5 DIN is not the way I should go, then where. My truck is green and the interior is charcoal. I like the blue and/or green display of the Kenwood and Alpine systems have.

Also, I have a small (I guess) 1/2 DIN place down below my stereo where the tape player is. Do they make small CD systems or something I could fill this slot with or shoulf I just get the stock storage insert available.

Thanks so much in advance, I look forward to hearing from you all.

You could get a single DIN unit and then get a 1/2 DIN equalizer? Or something to fill up that 1/2 DIN instead of plastic just wasting space... I hate GM for that.

If im reading correctly you have a din and half area and a half din area right next to eachother? Couldnt you just fab a double din HU?
No, sorry I was not more specific on this. The space between the two pieces is more like 18" so I could not fabricate anything to combine the two.

I really like the 1.5 DIN because you can get some pretty awesome display. I guess that is why I am leaning towards the 1.5 DIN.

Also, if you know of an awesome DIN unit that pushes some decent wattage (60w or more) I would be more than happy to consider them as well.

Thanks for the replies so far, keep 'em coming! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

Chrysler uses the same thing. I thought I recall some expensive Kenwood or Alpine replacements that people were using… However, it very well may be the Pioneer models you listed.

The new Grand Cherokees have a built in GPS – you might want to check out something like that to see if it works for your pickup.

You can always just do 1 DIN and fill in the gaps.

Thanks, I think I just made a sweet deal. I bought a DEH-P77DH and a Mosfet PB760, 1200W for right at $100 on Ebay. They were both listed as brand new so I just jumped on it. I hope I did a good thing. Now I have to get some subs that soung good with the amp. I am not going over 10's though.

Thanks folks!!
