1.5 cu ported?

Well i've bought 2 12's for my jeep. Have been playing with ideas all weekend. Relized fiberglass wouldnt be the way to go. When i go hunting, 4-wheeling ect i think it could get ruined. Not to mention theres not much room in a wrangler if you wanna keep your back seat. So my question is would i be ok to run 1.5 cu per sub ported proabaly at 30hz? any suggestions here?

what kinda amp? 1.5-1.8 should be the minimum i would go. you could also bump the tuning up to like 34hz or so you wouldnt miss much in the low end at all but gain some loudness.

Right now sense funds are low ill be running it off a VGA 800.2 which will give me 800 to both @4, 200 below rms total. Would like to next paycheck change that to 1200 Proabaly sticking with PG and going with the tantrum 1200. i was thinking i may loose a little going to 30hz, wish i had time to play around would make some test boxes.

ya its all trial and error. try and get as much box as you can in there though. It will make up for the lack of power if you can get your box bigger //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think 400 rms to each would be fine, plus the tuning around 30-34hz is a good idea, mine is tuned to 28, hits good on the low notes but I kind of miss some of the higher notes in some songs, they play just really quite (ie rock music kick drums usually higher).

i don't think you'll have room to port them.

to get a tuning that low and a decent amount of port area you're looking at over 3ft^3 gross (external) for each sub.

example:

http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported-box.asp?Ew=26&Eh=14&Dia=6&Xmax=15&Vd=.1&NumW=1&Vb=1.5&Fb=32&Qts=&Vas=&Fs=&CE=0

that comes out to 3.16ft^3 gross.

and i don't know where you plan on putting the box, but you might want to look at something like this:

http://caraudiofactory.com/jeep-wrangler-years-jumbo-p-171.html

that one's custom fit and they could only get 1.25ft^3 per side sealed

i think one ported may work, or else two sealed.

Your probably right theres just not much room in a wrangler. I think i'll go sealed for now maybe 1cu each. Open for all suggestions here.

I have a way i can make these 2 12's work ported tho, but that will be over christmas brake or something when i have time off work. Plan is to fiberglass a back seat that is also my box.

If i get the time i may see if i can make a couple quick 1.5 cu boxes ported just to see if it would even work.

I would go with sealed if ur looking for more SQ and the tighter bass hits. and with 800 watts rms it should get plenty loud

for now i'd just go with 1ft^3 each sealed, and do the fiberglassing when you have time. it sounds like a lot of fun!

Sounds like a plan to me. I will hopefully be able to build these today or tomorrow. Especially sealed the retard cant do math either :p.

Look forward to being able to give these things a much needed review for the board as well. Thanks for all the help, as always tho any more opinions, options, crazy glassing ideas, suggestions, gay bashing, ect.... is always welcome
