i will go with the refurb viper unless anyone has objections... and the SE should be good enough right? i'm not looking for much so this should make me happy wouldn't you say?

ive heard SE taking 800+ watts no problem, what headunit do you have?

I really like my Viper 1200, i run my SX on it at 1ohm getting 1200 watts, no problem

its pretty small in size compared to other amps that power

You should be happy with that amp and sub

are u going to port it?

well here is the thing... i was planning on making a sealed box... but if i go ported i was going to get the shop to make one...

what would be the best type/size box to put it in... i know sealed is more sq, but what does the sub sound best in?

i have a alpine 9827 hu...

what if i had dual 2 ohm coils get make a 4 ohm load... would 450 watts from the amp be better than running 800 at 2 ohms?

or just use if it will take it? which i know it will... i just don't want to shorten the life of anything here...

the SE is dual 4 ohm, so either 2ohms or 8ohms to run it at. if you get a ported box tune it around 30hz or lower for sq and it will still sound real good, if you get over 35hz or more your starting to get into spl. i think its something like that. you would be happier with ported i think, but i dont know your preferences

slick rick suggested since i am starting out with a system, to just have a sealed box...

when i was talking about the 4 ohm load, i meant get dual 2 ohms for the extra $25, but i am just going to run ~700w @ 2 ohms to it...

i am ordering my Se 12" tomarrow, when i called re about getting custom coils for it they said they wont do it on the 2004-2005 models cause there isnt enough room in them. they say dual 4 ohm only

that's cool... i will definately run them 2 ohms then... (with only one sub that is...)

^^^ if you plan on making the box i suggest trying out a small sealed box... you should have enough left over mdf for a ported box too if you dont like the sealed. if you plan on having someone build you a box id say go ported and be happy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
