1/0 Compression Connections

Alright, so I'm getting ready to do the "Big-3" on my 92 Towncar yesterday and I ran into a snag...

I bought all the wiring and a few Compression connectors... I bought this for 5 bucks because everything else I asked for, the audio shop was out of: http://www.cardomain.com/item/STRGT0

The problem I'm having is that I can't get the d@mn wire inside! I cut back the insulation the required length, and try to jam it in the openeing, but I can't get it to seat all the way...

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas... I'm thinking of just going to the regular crimping...

yep, trim off some of the wires so it's smaller

Man i really hate how you people suggest to trim off the excess diameter of wire.

Go buy wire gauge reducers. partsexpress or autotoys sells them.

here's a situation for you

what happens with the 1/0ga wire doesnt fit in the 1/0ga reducer?

Being the cheap *** that I am, I'd just trim the wire...no sense spending more money. As long as you arent trimming a 4 gau. to fit it on an 8 gauge terminal. What do you lose by slightly trimming the wire?

dude it really doesnt matter. if you are going into an amp i would get cautious ONLY BECAUSE the power and ground and sometimes remote are all really close and there's very little room to safeguard yourself from accidents.

but if he's using RING TERMINALS that have the rubber that goes over the crimped part of the ring terminals, he could reduce 0awg into 10awg for all i care I think it's safe.
