hooking up new amp in my boat.. plz help asap

Hi im new to this forum, and wanted to avoid going to a store or shop in simi valley, and pay over 100 dollars, just to tell me if this was gonna work. I have a mastercraft x-30 wakeboard boat. It has 4 speakers in the boat(clarion waterproof ones they ****), and some clarion p.o.s. sub. It sucks and produces no bass or has alot of distorion. I have recently got a kicker comp vr 10 inch sub for my truck, and I have a sony xplod 1,200 amp. The boat has 2 batteries, and 2 amps. I have a few pics of the amps, but it was hard to get good ones. One is a clarion 4 channel amp, and the other is a mtx 2 channel I think. I was just gonna hook up my kicker directly to the spot where the clarion sub is, but I dont think its enough watts for it. I was wondering, since the black amp in the pics is hooked up to the power from the clarion, can I hook up my sony to the black amp and make like a 3 amp train? I know i could do it, but was just wondering if this would be robbing power from the others? or cause anyhthing to go wrong?

Oh ya and I forgot to mention that the 4 clarion speakers were hooked up to the clarion amp and I have to mb quart speakers on the wakeboard tower hooked up to the mtx amp.

Your Question is really confusing....so i cant reallly help you on that one

but

i have a 04 X2 with the Clarion Deck and Speakers and i just added a four channel 2 the speakers and 2 9.kv2s under the seats and i f'in love it.....

the battery is rite under the deck in my boat so it took me like 30 mins to hook an amp up....so i dont see what is so hard....

alright well, would just hooking the battery source to one amp, then the power for the 2nd amp to the 1st, and the power for the 3rd to the second work? how much are distro blocks? cus i dont wanna spend much, because this is just temporary for when i go to the lake. thanks

ok ya and i have a question about the remote wire. can i just hook to the 1st, and the 2nd to the 1st, and the 3rd to the 2nd?

also i looked at some distro blocks, and they say 4 gauge. is the smaller the gauge the bigger the wire or the other way around?

Why don't you just buy a distro block?
Also if you are looking for new speakers, look into the kicker coax's they are waterproof.
you dont need a waterproof speaker for on the water. my family has had systems in boat for over a decade. owned boats for over 30 years.

the pioneer tsd-170r's and oversized 6.5" have a slightly larger tweeter than most coaxials. they are the best coaxial i have found to work well out on the water. components are another story, but when dealing with four or five pairs all together, that gets expensive way fast. my speakers get pretty wet in the boat, and on the tower they are dry as can be and they are both fine. as for amps, right now i have a zapco reference 360.4 and a diamond d5 1200.1. my new boat will be all c2k's.

as for the sub i have a tdx 12" under the drivers side.

now i have two auxillary batteries for my system and one for the boat in reserve. controlling which battery is in use is a perko switch. it has four settings (1, both, 2, and off). 1 is my boat battery and 2 is both auxillary batteries. i have a charger from west marine mounted in the boat that chargers each battery individually. it is a three stage charger. once 13.2 volts is reached in each battery, it back off into a very slow charger, until they are completly charged. then it maintains them at 13.2 volts. it has a 6 foot pigtail that you can plug straight into the wall or extension cord. it is nice just coming home and plugging it in without having to connect anything other than a plug. you can leave this thing plugged in for weeks without hurting anything. it will back itself off. that charger is wired directly to each battery. and the system is just wired off of the 2 posistion on the perko. just whatever you do, dont go with a solenoid/isolator. if the batteries are too dead, it cant click over to the other batteries.

A distroblock can cost between 15 to 30 bucks.

What you do is take 1 large main power wire from the battery into the distroblock and from there the distroblock will split the power evenly into 2+ outputs.

Each amp is connected seperately to each output.

You MUST do it this way if you want multiple amps. You can not tap one amp into another amps power wire.

could someone plz give me a link to a few of the cheapest distribtuion blocks that would work for me. I have 3 amps i need to hook up. Also, the main power source from the battery is a fat 1/0 gague wire i think and it goes into a fuse. then the wire coming out to power all the subs is only a 10 gague. doesnt this seem small? sshouldnt it be bigger, and then run into a block and then go to the subs?

Its elementary my dear Watson....

You got the big fat wire from the battery and then an inline fuse. Get you a distro block and then cut the wire right after the fuse and attach the wire to the distro block. The block will have 3 outputs to run power to your amps. From there you attach the power wires going to each amp. And from the amp you attach your speaker wire to the speakers and sub.

Not hard at all Smee //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
