you lose all the diagnostic center functions of the vehicle, plus if the factory radio is not in the vehicle and you attempt to take it to a dealer, they will void the warranty.

The radio is an important piece of the databus. There are kits out there that simulate it for about 250, but the factory deck is serialized into the digital bus of the vehicle.

At the very least you need this:

best kits BHA2004T - 65 dollars

and you will need to relocate the radio elsewhere in the vehicle.

whaaat?

so if i install an aftermarket head unit, i void my powertrain and bumper to bumper warranty?

or are you saying that if i don't get that GMOS thats what will happen?

so let me ask...

if i get that GMOS integration adapter and whatnot, and install an aftermarket head unit, will i still be able to retail my warranty? the dealer made NO mention of this fact, and you can bet i'll be asking..

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act..

read up on it..

yeah, but there is more then the door chime that runs through your factory radio.
you take the radio out, you lose a lot of functions, that they will see if they ever scan your car.. and will read errors..
so what, people with trailblazers cant install aftermarket head units?

how would i go about getting an aftermarket stereo installed so i can hook up a system while retaining the functions?

oh you can install a radio. you just need a harness that will retain all data (like the GMOS. or the kit: BHA2004T that relocates the factory radio to the trunk)..

hey blame new GM cars for making it a pain in the *** to install simple things.

IIRC, the information center isn't ran through the radio in the Trailblazers/Envoys (haven't worked on one in about 2 years, though), so he wouldn't lose that.
