05 RE xxx

I have come across an RE xxx 12 sub. Its an older style as it has the 12 spoke basket but the kid doesnt know what coils it has. Does anybody know what coils were availiable for these subs? Also is this a 3 or 4" VC?

3" coil. I've only heard of dual 4 and dual 2s. Easy way to figure out is put a dmm to the terminals.

Set the dmm to ohms and positive lead to pos terminal neg to neg terminal (obviously) you should get right around 2 ohm give or take a few tenths on a dual 2 and around a 4 on dual 4. Make sure to check both sides and that they read pretty close. Touch the leads of the dmm together and subtract that reading from the coil reading also. (I think)

Thanks, thats what I figured but wasnt sure. Also he says that the xxx is quad terminal I thought they were dual vc? or am I missing something here?

I have heard there were a few quad coil XXXs...so yeah, its possible. Be sure to check them all to make sure its not blown and figure out wiring options.

there were ton's of custom XXX. I would recone it though the factory softparts are ok but you can make it much nicer.
