So here is my latest venture/build into car audio. I really wanted to try my hand at building for an 18" in my car and I was very content with the outcome. Somethings could have been done differently, they can still be done differently but I will keep it the way it is since it is working fine.

Equipment:

1 - 18" Audio Technix Strato D4 only using one coil

1 - Kicker KX120.2 bridged at 4 ohms (New amp on the way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif )

1 - Sony CX-GT55UIW playing music off ipod

2 - Kicker KS650 Coaxials in the doors

2 - VR3 6x9" 3 ways for rear fill

Big 3 done in 1/0 Knu CCA

(+,-) Runs of 2ga. welding cable to sub amp in the trunk

MLA Voltage Boost Module

Idea for a box that I had in mind to build for the 18" sub

I sure hope so! I'm taking a different aspect on the sub =P Making it my sq sub =]
I don't know much about SQ or what to expect for SQ in bass but I imagine the sub in such a situation with the proper setup/placement would work for you. I really like how this sounds. Maybe I'm wrong but it sounds to me like it can play all the lower end freq. pretty well with several types of music I've tried.

Looks like a fun box build lol
It started out fun trying to make the pieces and checking after each piece that it would still fit in the car. The end was the worst but I knew what I was in for. Securing the top and bottom pieces from inside the box inside the car was tiring on its own and took a few tries to get right. I didn't account for the ring around the port so I had to hand hammer it in and that gave me a hard time as the placement is in the way of the seat opening. I also left the speaker wiring for the very end when the box was in the car... big mistake but I wasn't ready to take it all out so I got to work.

Still have a few things to do:

Properly seal off with some panels and great stuff

Reinforce the rear deck with some mdf and seal any openings

And properly caulk of the seams on the inside

And I can do all this just taking out the sub but I'll do that when I have a bit of time to take the car apart again.
