Is my tweeter blown

Hello good day yesterday I realize im hearing a rattling sound from my left side mid box which contains ( (2) 6.5 speakers an (1) tweeter ) P5TW 5D : 1.75" PRO Audio Bullet Tweeter
when I open the box an disable the tweeter I am not hearing the rattle sound anymore ( which tells me its coming from the tweeter )..

I'm thinking of getting an tweeter an replacing it before I do this the tweeter is playing means is the tweeter an not the resistor is the resistor is blown would the tweeter still play?

Sounding like a distortion not always its sounding that way

can't be a mounting because I removed it completely for the box an im still hearing it

Edit. You hear it with the tweeter out of the box
Yes I took it out the box tried it I heard the the rattling sound I was listening to eminem houdini when I disconnect the tweeter an played the same song over I didn't hear the rattling that's why I narrow it down to the tweeter

Then the tweeter is to blame. A rattle/buzz coming from an unmounted speaker can be an unwinding/separating voicecoil.

I already purchased a replacement tweeter I didn't install it just yet I don't want to damage the new one, my installer in a car show in another country I could only let him look at it when he returns

Okay I was only making sure I already purchased another one didn't install because I wanted to be sure its nothing else like the resistor failed that why I asked

lets say the resistor failed would the tweeter play or not? or if the resistor failed would the amp sent a different frequency to the tweeter an cause the damage... my installer is out of the country he went to a car show in another country or I would let him tell me what's wrong..

As Spokey said; but I have never encountered a passive capacitor that failed. On another thread a member wanted to renew his component set's capacitors but I think it was only because they were 20+ years old.
For peace of mind it will benefit to change your's out. They are quite inexpensive and easy to acquire.
