You will rip that speaker in half with 1600w. That spider is waaay too frail for that, especially in a ported box. Thermally I don't see the coil taking it either. I wouldn't go over 800-1kW with it, regardless of box. The spiders/suspension absolutely are a factor in mechanical powerhandling...

I run one WGTi 15 sealed in about 2cf. I love it. Awesome woofer. Very accurate and deep. I only use 400w, but my primary interest in getting it wasn't SPL. Honestly if you buy one of these for SPL, you're kinduva tard.

There are only a few subs out there that hang with the GTi for SQ, and the SX12 is not among them. The SX is a good woofer, but not as purist in terms of accuracy. I'd go with the GTi.
