mdjai, you're not the only person who hasn't heard factory like midbass from aftermarket components i've had infinity perfects, jl 3-ways and the current pioneer PRS and none has the midbass i've heard from factory systems true, the components mentioned can handle more power without distortion...

where did you ground, the trunk or behind the dash?

I'm getting very low output to the amp with various head units claiming 4V+, now i'm getting minor crackles. I've alway used the factory ground via the factory harness, could this be my problem? How is your head unit grounded?

X2 - my gains had to be past 1/2 way point for any decent volume :-( These units : Clarion DRX-9675z (4V), Alpine CDA-9855(4V) and Kenwood DDX-8017 (5V)

yep, that's their strategy; no wonder they move up so fast

Welcome, my 500/5 gave out too. Protection circuitry my arse! It was never once abused, gains set per JL specs too. I had to resort back to 7 y.o. rockford punch, which is still working like a champ.

I bought a set but had to sell them because the magnets were too big to fit in the doors. I now have the 5 inch set and they sound great. Rated at 35 watts RMS but I'm feeding them 100. These are available on Ebay. These components are underpriced period.

why do the stock position, thats too much work use the stock sail panel like i did, you can build a pair easily
