I myself would choose Alpine from your list, but do consider McIntosh, Nakamichi, and Eclipse. The last do have units that are under $500 and have great SQ w/o the useless/extraneous features... Just my 2 cents.

You're right... However, the IA would still be on when unit is on... In any case, more heat is still generated but your point is well taken... Any advise on HUs? thanks,
