i am thinking of using a set of these in the front of my car in custom kick boxes, and my question is, how small can i make these boxes if i only have to get to about 50-60hz (will be rolled off electronically 18db/octave). i might go with the 5" ones due to lack of space, but they should do...

im thinking of using a pair in some custom kick boxes, to cover midbass from 60-300hz, then my a/d/s/es can take over from 300 and up. im willing to use a small woofer so that the boxes can be small (and fit!). im just wondering HOW small i can make the (sealed) boxes if i only need or desire...

what is the theory behind that? someone on the "general" forum suggested the Coustic XM6, which will let me run the midbass subs from as low as 40hz (i will prolly run 50-60hz) and the upper cutoff at 300hz, which is higher than i wanted but should work anyways. It will let the a/d/s/es run as...

Looks like it will work!! I looked at the owners manual online and i can set the bandpass midbass/front subs to run as low as 40hz and can cut it off at 300hz, which should work! I also like the slopes on that unit, 18db/octave hipass and 36db/octave lowpass! thanks for the tip!!

hmmm maybe at 50hz,,,, i think that would be better than 70... let the 10s do only the sub sub bass and the 6.5s carry SOME sub bass but not the lower lows... i wish they had 60hz filters.... hmmmmm....

Thanks for those suggestions, the thing is my equipment is all oldskool aka without internal crossovers. my head unit is at least fifteen years old. and my amps are oldskool PPI without crossovers. I do have a ppi crossover, one that splits out the sub and gives you hipass for front and rear...
