Sony Xplod speakers...Good investment or bad choice?

I do have them in my vehicle. I have two 6.5" Sony Xplods mounted directly to the metal door frame (bad idea, I know) and two 6x9's in the rear deck, and even though the back speakers are a little louder, both sets produce clear sound at all ranges. I get good bass with these speakers, which...

    Damage speakers by gain?

Honestly, I would run all the tests at normal listening levels. No point in turning the volume up to max just to run an oscope test.

Sony Xplod speakers...Good investment or bad choice?

I know specs are meaningless. I am just saying that the Sony Xplod speakers sound fine to me, and I compared them with Eclipse and Rockford Fosgate speakers at circuit city and, to me, the Sony Xplods sounded just as good as the Rockford Fosgates did.

    Damage speakers by gain?

Joker, you still do not understand...I am saying road noise and other external noises mute out the audible sounds. The road noise "cancels out" the 30kHz signal, is basically what I am trying to say. Road noise, wind noise, and engine/exhaust noise, when they enter the cabin of an automobile...

    Damage speakers by gain?

Joker, no, I am not saying that. What I am saying is this: The 30kHz signal is inaudible to humans, since the human ear can only hear sounds as high as 20kHz, but even that number is reduced by interference such as wind, road noise, and the way sound reflects inside a car. Most cars have a...

    Damage speakers by gain?

Joker, 30kHz is not a marketing gimmick. It is just the uppermost limit of a tweeter or a supertweeter on most speakers. Most speakers are rated for 30Hz to 30kHz. Since the sound in cars is reflected all over the interior of the car, most mid-range and high-range sounds will be somewhat...

Sony Xplod speakers...Good investment or bad choice?

MBRock, for the price ($80 for a pair of 6.5" Sony Xplod speakers), the speakers sound great, at least to me they do, and they have a full 30Hz to 30kHz response with 92dB sensitivity, which is right on par with the capabilities of the human ear, so for the price, I see no reason not to get them.

    Damage speakers by gain?

OK. I know people are going to bash me for this, but if you reduce the frequency response range, it will mean less overall quality and the sound will not be as clear, and since you say that you prefer clear music over loud music, my best advice is to keep the frequency response at its full...

    Speaker Wire

8 guage wire is recommended, but you could use 4-guage wire for better signal transfer.

Squeak, if you are going to continue flaming me in other people's posts, then you obviously are not worthy of my attention, and therefore, you have no reason to speak to me.

    Good amps?

What are some good, yet affordable 4-channel amps that run 50W to 60W RMS @ 4 ohms? Keep in mind that I am on a very limited budget and cannot afford a $500 amp. My budget is $250/month or less.

    Damage speakers by gain?

Let me just make this simple. Because the speakers are only rated for 70W RMS, you do not need to turn the gain up all the way. At most, you only need 75% of the maximum gain for that power rating. If the speakers were rated for 80W RMS, then yes, you could turn the gain up all the way.

Are the MTX Thunder TA amps any good, or are Bazooka or the Sony Xplod Specialty Series better?

    Head unit and quality questions

No, Heyman, I do not work for Sony. I only stand behind them because I have had very good experiences with Sony, Sharp, Toshiba, and Insignia products. I have not had any problems with any of those 4 brands, so I am basing this stuff on the experiences I have had. I go with ATRAC3plus because...
