I believe it just makes it easier on your amp. I also believe that SQ (sound Quality) is based of the HU and its internal processor. IMO!!!!

That is funny you said that a Clarion Hu ate your Cd. Back in the late 80's when i didnt have much money I saved and saved and saved until I could buy an Alpine Cd player. Guess what? It ate a CD within 3 months!!! I was so dissappointed! hahaha

Very well said. I based my Hu decision on price and quality. I could afford $550 and Clarion HU are above average. Maybe not the best, but they get the job done and are reliable.

I believe that using a HU that has a higher voltage preouts can be important depending on your amps. I have a Clarion DVD and its screen and Ipod is very user friendly and clear but I have to turn my amps gain pretty high to get enough power to my power hungry comps. But the Carion was only $550...

I will def build a box for him. I like buiding boxes anyways!!

I have no idea of which type of sub would be good for an enclosure. What do I look for as I know some subs are better for sealed and/or ported boxes. I want to buy a 10 inch sub and put it in a bandpass box.

Hi, A friend wants me to install a small amp, bandpass box with 10 inch sub, rca's and power wire, etc for $300 or less. Anyone know of any decent combos for that price? I can build a box or we can get a prefab at a local shop.

I learn that factory installed car audio seems to be better for the price then aftermarket. The labor kills the car audio IMO! You should have spent 200 bucks and drove out to San Diego and I would have helped you install everything for free. Plus, you could have bought all the stereo...

I couldnt find any modeling clay around here so I went to home depot and got the antique anti slip clay. It was $4.75 and it was enough for both mids. Have fun and make sure the raamat is cool in temp. If its real warm its a bit more messy!
