Make the hole as small as practicable, tie a knot on the interior side, squeeze silicone in the hole, then pull the knot to the wall & add more silicone. That should do! [i did this in my install--no problems]

Ahhh--that makes sense. Yes, so far so good. 1/4 wavelength rule does lend itself to cabin gain though (with subs firing towards the rear). Oh well--this install makes sense in this car. I knew that bedliner would give me what I wanted. Not sure about the sound deadening spray.
