Hey CA I'm doing an install on my 1st lexus. There's a stock amp and the brain is in the trunk. Do I need to do anything special to install an new amp to the stock speakers... this guy has tried this install but he has no volume control now.... any help would be appreciated... thanx

thank you for your input but i already knew that I was getting into just an easy way for him to do it himself by just adding all the fuses on the amp also if he needed a larger wire. 4gauge should handle 500/1 dont you think? also i do know also that the fuse is the protect the wire not the amp...

wat are the fuse ratings of ur amps? u need a bigger fuse.

the new compustars are sweet longer range and new add ons. u can basically add all the window roll up or wateva to most models with relays if u know how to. i have a compstar in mines and love it.

wow.. i would test all ground point wit my DMM and see whats up.that hum is coming from somewhere try new rca's out side the install may be the rca's..

try an ground distro block

are ur signal cables away from ur power cables?

same general area the tail lights are grounded to that could be the problem switch the ground and see wats good with tha. happens alot when a shared grounds.

when the harness is not around i splice it up and make it very neat solder the wire and shrink tubing to wrap the solder. the wire tie and some tape to neat tuck it. as for shops u must be thinking of best buy or circuit city jobs most custom shops are real neat with that.

each car varies. but installing the h/u is mainly the same concept each time hooking up the constant12v , accessory12v, ground, antenna and remote wires out to the amps...

harnesses are good to have but with a qwick install they are not always around so u settle for splicing.... to me its qwick and ez if u know wat ur doing but if u dont u can screw up biggtime..
