anything like the w7 that costs less? i used to run 12w7 w/500 watts. very happy w/ sq/spl mix. but i have to replace it. i will most likely stick w/ @ 500 watts. am considering 10w7, would love to know if there is a cheaper solution. thanks.

i've got them in for rear fill. i think they are fine for that. i dont think i would like for them to be my only speakers though.

had some time yesterday...checked all connections, crossovers, settings, gains...everything. all good. everything is fine at volumes louder than what i normally listen to. i'm guessing it's the amp. maybe i'll call jl next week for their input.

no response from the sub unless i have volume up to 15. if it's music that doesn't have a lot of sub bass, i have to turn it up even louder. 17. is this normal? i'm not sure if it's a defective amp or if it has something to do with not enough power going into the 12w7 at lower listening...

yes or no? explanation would be appreciated. want to increase amp power but also dont want to strain my car's electrical and charging systems. don't need to tell me how the battery and alternator fit into the scheme of things. already got a grasp on that. don't know jack about capacitors though...

JL XR650Csi. Strong midbass. Clear, smooth highs. Adjustable tweeter high and midbass presence. Local shop gave 'em up for $289. Intstalled them yesterday. 2 enthusiastic thumbs up!!!

btw, i would do it on the door panel but afraid that some would-be theif might look into my windows and decide that this car has some good **** to steal. or **** yeah having it right in the door would be **** convenient!

that was my original plan just wasnt sure if that was ok. ill install the amp in the trunk, with the x-overs close by. thnx.

these are big ones though and adjustable too. so i'll stay away from putting inside the doors. maybe ill put em under the seat or in the kick panels or something. thanks.

no way should you go with 1 300/2 for 2 12w3s. i used to run 1 12w3 off a 300/2. it couldve handled more power for sure. if youre going to stick with jl amps, go with a 500/1 or 2 300/2s.

where to mount them? i mean are there preferred places or places where they are usually mounted? small 4-door sedan. thanks.

Ditto on the Infinity. Great value. However, for some reason Reference sounds better to me than Kappas. JL TR and VR sound pretty decent. I think MSRP for 6.5s is about 150. I picked up some TR650CXis for rear fill for $89. MB Quart RKC or something like that sounded great. Sorry don't know...

so true. here's what i'm looking for. -strong midbass -relaxed highs (as opposed to harsh/bright, which hurts my ears at loud volumes) -crisp/clear details what fits the bill? p.s. i dont know if it makes a difference in your recommendation, but they will be 6.5s and they will NOT be going...
