When I had my alarm installed I paid the shop $20 to do the power wire for me. I recommend doing that if you can, especially if you have a car without an (easily) accessible grommet. They'll just drill it for you. Just a suggestion.

Yeah, got that same recommendation from a friend. I'll likely just find a local shop to drop it in there. I don't need an uber alarm anyway really, just a deterrant and functionality (door unlock, lights, panic, etc). If someone wants to get in my car, an alarm isn't really going to stop them.
