if you are cranking the living crap out of your subs, then you are clipping the signal on your amp, and especially if your ground was loose, that would cause the amp to clip, then you fried your subs

if he is running to single voicecoils and he bridged them, the amp is seeing 2 ohms, most likely the amp is not made to run less then 4 ohms, he will burn something up, and plus what does his ground look like?
