Rewire

I am thinking about rewiring my car but i need some people's input. I want to know if i need to rerun the whole car in 1/0. I currently have a 4awg installed, but it was from a previous install with a 800W Lanzar amp (from first system). Should i upgrade to 1/0 with the 1200W SPL? or would i be ok just leaving it the way it is?

a chart to help you out as a reference so you can decide.

nm, it is not working. If i was you i would prolly change it. But i would say that you don't have to.

EDIT: pic doesn't work so i deleted it

Ok Thanks monte_carlo97...

I have another question though... If I upgraded this wire would it help with dimming or would i have to add the BIG 3 to that?

dimming is in the electrical system..... it means your pulling more amps then you system can put out. try the big 3 some people say it fixes it and some say it doesnt. but it couldnt hurt. if it still does it after the big 3 then its alternator time or an extra battery..... or both

You could pop in a small capacitor too, if you didn't want to do the Big 3. Try a .5, if that doesnt work, do the Big 3 or get a HO alt.

At the very end of all of that, you'll have a great system to work with, a capacitor is always something I recommened for systems over 800 watts.

i told ya skep. ^_^

go for the big three, you can get a few feet of 1\0 and itl take you maybe 45 minutes to do.

1. alternator + ---> battery +

2. alternator\engine block mount ---> chassis

3. battery - ---> chassis

very simple. keep all the ground\- as short as possible, and you might wanna fuse the alt+ to bat+.

its a very simple fix, and you said your uncle was an electrition. so it should be real cheap for you =D

go for it.

i would stick with 1/0 guage for the big three and 4 guage to run the rest of your system. the cost of 1/0 guage to increase in performance for the rest of your system may not be worth it in your case. if you still run into electrical problems, consider a more powerful alt before any other upgrades.

A cap is a bandaid for the REAL problem.

caps = waste of money that could be used toward the electrical system.

amen to that brother, I have two caps in stock at work, and havent sold any of them because everytime i tell someone to uprgrade their electrical system instead of buying a cap, that always works better
