I think you might be right. I found out the amp thump was happening because my sub amp would not power down even when my coax amp was. They share a remote turn on lead, and have a common grounding point. With everything off my amp was still powered, so I removed the turn on lead and it stayed...
Update: I know why I'm getting the amp thump at power up and power down. One of my two amps is staying powered on, even with the head unit off. This wasn't happening until all of the problems started. My turn on lead goes to both amps, but for some reason the Alpine (sub amp) is not turning off...
Install done, sounded perfect for about a month, then all of the sudden I have engine whine through front door speakers AND I started getting an amp thump during power up AND power down. Never had either of these before, and they started at the same time. Any ideas?
Thanks

Wiring up 2 2ohm DVC subs to a mono amp. Want to run at 2ohms, but when I check with my DMM, I'm getting 2.3ohms. Did I do something wrong?
Thanks,
Jeff
Do I use ring terminals on the bolts, or should I bend the blade terminals out and use blade connectors (assuming that's what they are for)?
Thanks,
Jeff
2 DVC 2 Ohm SA-12's on an Alpine MRX-M110. I believe the wiring is correct, just didn't know if I should pigtail the amp wire, and attach one speaker wire per terminal, or if it is okay to put two wires in one terminal.
Is it acceptable to put two speaker wires in a subwoofer spring terminal when wiring my subs like this?

I have an 1100W amp (will realistically get 1000W from it) that will to feed my subwoofer(s). Now I'm looking to buy subs. I have enough room for a proper enclosure (in SUV) for any of the following options, and my budget will allow for any choice. Given the option would you:

Those look like good subs, but they are 750W too. Was thinking I might have better results running a sub at its RMS with a little headroom. Like something in the 400-500 RMS range. I don't think I'll be upgrading my amp. If I do I'm going to need an alt. too. Considering something like...
