Alright, guess I learned with the head unit. Hopefully my next wont blow and yeah I use an i-Pod all iTunes quality songs.

Yeah, that's exactly what we did but with everything max on the HU. I guess that was the problem lol. Sent too much of a dirty signal.

So what does this tell me, that my deck is causing my subs to blow? Is there any other possibilities besides getting a new hu? Why would my HU send a dirty signal? It's a kenwood double-din btw.

Thanks for the info, I don't know if the sig coming out of the amp was distorted or not. It blew when I was listening to it loudly turned it down for about 10 seconds and went to turn it back up and it sounded like a Ruler was being slapped against my rear window hard and quick. At volumes above...

I set the gains with HU bass at max, and volume at 32/35

Can it still be clipped even though the gain was set with deck settings up max? I need to know what I did wrong so I don't blow another one O_o

Yeah but I had the guy specifically set the gain when the deck was on max, that was the point haha, not going to listen to it on low deck settings. And like I said I turned the gain down a hair from what he set it at.

Re-do haha. New 2012 model alpine type r 10" with an alpine mrx-m100 amp(1000 watts rms to the sub) Bass boost setting on 0. Gain professionally set + turned down a hair from there. Properly "broke in" 5-8 hours of nothing more than 1/2 settings and volume. It just blew out today at about 16-20...

So I guess I just got a crap faulty sub

Anyways I had the gain professionally set. Both times just want to know why my subs keep blowing and im not driving anymore
