    Sound ordinances

$500 for sound ordinance ticket is ridiculous. I think you should get a ticket if you are playing your music in a neighborhood or residential area. I never have my stereo up loud in neighborhoods. I used to turn it down at stoplights, but there are so many stoplights that I don't have the...

    The..."What I'm doing with my $5 ED 8's"...thread

Why would you run subs in HT in a sealed enclosure? I'd figure a ported box tuned LOW would be the best. After all, wouldn't you be crossing over the subs very low in a HT application? Your regular woofers should be more than enough for the midbass? I can't see a sealed box being able to have...

    Not understanding active on HU's

Uh... right. I just didn't realize that amps didn't have the "extras" mine does. For example, to get a bandpass crossover I can just run a highpass from my sub preamp and than set the lowpass on my component amp: this would create a bandpass crossover. Oh well, I guess my amps just provide...

    Not understanding active on HU's

OK, I'm quite a bit confused as to how you can go active with the head unit itself. For the subs what difference does it make, can't you just use the crossover on the amp? Or is it for on-the-fly crossover changing, which doesn't seem necessary at all? I only have a 2 channel amp for my...

    HU Volume full setting...

No, you should DL the song. In the bridge of it there is like a 20 second period of continuous pure bass tones. I guess for instances like that I just have to turn down the volume? Do you listen to rap music, and if so do you listen to it at the volume level you set your gain to with the -10db...

    HU Volume full setting...

Ok, so with a -10db reference signal you get a 3:1 overlap at the volume level you set your gain to? Is that safe with rap music as well!?!? There is a point in a song by kottonmouth kings - Hidden Destinations where it sounds like a pure test tone. Is this most likely not a sustained 0db wave...

    HU Volume full setting...

The only thing that I kind of understood is that music only has transients approaching -6db to 0db? It seems like everyone understood the whole situation much better when going to this link that you posted: http://www.carsound.com/UBB/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=021713#000000 but that...

    HU Volume full setting...

This leaves even more guesswork with the head unit volume. I don't listen to too much rap, but if I do I don't put it past my volume level that is set for the gain with my 0db test tone. Of course, there are SOME rap songs not recorded at 0db like "Sole Survivor" but for almost all others I...

    HU Volume full setting...

First of all, I'm sorry about all these idiots that don't realize what's going on/is being asked. Clearly the answer to your question is that it is impossible with this head unit and most likely impossible with all head units. If the HEAD UNIT is clipping past a certain volume it has nothing to...

    Half-Din Flipout Monitor Still Exist?

You should remove the pyle logo on the front and fabricate a little "nexation" logo. A small piece of wood with engraving and paint would work? I think that would be cool, because I'd rather not have to see the "pyle" everytime I got into my car :P.

    JL 12w3v3 Box Volume Help

But perhaps JL is giving a box designed purely for SQ and disregarding output SQL/SPL? I'm going to go ahead and shoot them an e-mail. It just seems so small of a box, and I have room in my Jeep Cherokee for a pretty large box.

    JL 12w3v3 Box Volume Help

Hello, I plan on building a new box for my 2 JL 12w3v3's. JL suggests 1.75ft^3 @ 30Hz, making it 3.5ft^3 due to being 2 drivers, but after putting in the parameters into winisdpro it seems like the jl rec. size is too small and kills the low-end extension. To me, it looks like changing the JL...

Wouldn't the angling also screw you out of some constructive interference?

    RCA Trouble

One of the RCA inputs on my sub amp is broken. Can I just solder left and right channels together? Are there even any frequencies that would differ between left and right channels under 90Hz 24db/oct crossover?

    RCA Inputs messed up

Hey, I have a JL 500/1 that has problems with its RCA inputs. For it to get signal from the RCA cables the plugs need to be propped/pushed up, and I am getting power fluctuations due to this nonsense. Is there an easy fix to the RCA inputs of an amp?
